Calf Augmentation
Another area that can be improved surgically is the calves. This ambulatory surgery is done by an incision in the posterior part of the knee, right in the fold located at that level. One or two implants may be placed in each leg depending on the patient’s particular problem. These implants are made of solid silicon.
Implantec Implants are used. This surgery lasts approximately 2 hours and is done under general anaesthesia.
Patients can return to normal activity 1 day after surgery, though moderate rest is required for 2 weeks. Frequent elevation of the legs during the first 4 to 6 weeks is recommended.
Recovery is not painful, though there may be swelling of the calves and a sensation of tiredness in the operated zone for several weeks.
