Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation is not only a medical decision, it is a personal one. Every woman who considers breast augmentation has her own personal reasons. Some of these include:
o Enlarging the breasts to make the body more proportional.
o Reshaping and enlarging breasts that have lost their shape due to breast feeding or age.
The perception we have of ourselves defines who we are and how we introduce ourselves to the world. Not every woman feels the need for breast augmentation, but for many women (> 90%) it has awarded a state of great personal satisfaction and well-being.
There are many options available today for breast augmentation; none is perfect for all patients. What’s best for each particular patient depends on her wishes and expectations and what her body tissues allow her to have.
Each option has its own set of advantages and tradeoffs, and every option permits us to give excellent results if adequately chosen for the patient.
For these reasons, we use one incision location (inframammary, periareolar or transaxillary), pocket location (subglandular, subpectoral, dual plane), type of implant (round, contoured) and material (silicone gel or saline) for breast augmentation.
Our breast augmentations are ambulatory surgeries, preferably done under general anaesthesia. It takes about 1 to 2 hours and will take 3 to 5 days for full recovery in about 90% of cases. However many of our patients enjoy a full recovery in 24 hours or so.
